    Newton, Iroquois Co. Sheriff’s Offices fundraising for recovering Corporal

    KENTLAND, Ind. (WCIA) — The Iroquois and Newton County, Ind., Sheriff’s Offices are raising money for a Newton County Corporal who was shot in Iroquois County over the weekend .

    Corporal Brandon Schreiber was wounded Sunday night while engaging a suspect in a gunfight. The Illinois State Police said the suspect — Andrew Roselius of Clifton — led deputies on a car chase that crossed the Illinois-Indiana border twice before crashing in Sheldon, Ill. Roselius was killed during the gunfight.

    The last update WCIA received was that Schreiber was in critical condition at Carle Hospital in Urbana. State Police have not provided any further updates on his condition.

    As Schreiber recovers, a benefit account has been set up for him and his family at Kentland Bank. Donations can be made at any of the bank’s five locations in Indiana by mentioning Schreiber’s name.

    People can also make donations to the benefit account through the Iroquois County Sheriff’s Office. Donations including money, gift cards and cards with well wishes can be dropped off or mailed to the Sheriff’s Office headquarters in the basement of the Iroquois County Courthouse. The address is 550 South 10th Street, PO Box 67, in Watseka, 60970.

    Newton County officials advised that the Schreiber family has not authorized any fundraisers through GoFundMe or online platforms
