Sheriff: 17-year-old, 22-year-old killed in head-on crash in Dearborn County

Two people are dead after a head-on crash in Dearborn County on Friday morning, according to the Dearborn County Sheriff's Office.

The sheriff's office said deputies were dispatched just before 5 a.m. to Harrison-Brookville Road for a crash involving two vehicles. When they arrived at the scene, they found the drivers of both vehicles had died.

According to the sheriff's office, 17-year-old Reese Hayes, from Lawrenceburg, was driving a 2016 Lexus east on Harrison-Brookville Road when they traveled left of center and collided with a 2024 Honda driven by 22-year-old Zachary Hedges of West Harrison.

The vehicles collided head-on and both drivers, who were the only people in either car, were killed, according to the sheriff's office. Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene.

The road was closed for over four hours between Johnson Fork Road and the Hirlinger Chevrolet on Harrison-Brookville Road, according to a Dearborn County dispatcher.
