Approximately 35 people have been displaced after a fire at a condominium complex in Loveland, Fire Chief Otto Huber said.

Police were called about a fire at Carrington Crossings just after midnight.

Olzhas Dairbkov was on the third floor sleeping when the fire began and said he was awoken by the sound coming through his cracked window.

"I heard people screaming, 'Help! Help!' I was getting scared," he said.

Dairbkov ran to the balcony and saw flames spreading a few feet down the complex. He said he ran inside, woke his mother visiting from Dayton, and ran outside.

He then watched as everything he owned turned to ash.

"Look at me. It's all I have right now. Just my car, that's it," he said. "I mean, it's just hard to explain what I feel right now. It's just very, very sad."

According to Huber, one of the residents said she was using "burn tools" for fingernails. The resident said she thought she put the fire out but it spread.

Huber said the fire started on the second floor and spread to the roof, attic and other units before it took over the entire building.

The second floor eventually collapsed due to the fire, Huber said.

Approximately 35 people have been displaced after a fire at a condominium complex in Loveland, Fire Chief Otto Huber said.

"I'm just crossing my fingers about my insurance company," Dairbkov said. "I hope they will provide me with a hotel, and I can stay."

There are two buildings in the condominium with 24 units.

Huber said no one needed to be rescued from the buildings. No injuries were reported.

Several neighbors WCPO talked with Wednesday afternoon said they planned to organize fundraisers for the people displaced.

Lynn Zeigler has lived in a nearby condo for 30 years and said she was confident something would be put together.

"It's a giving community. It's a nice community," she said. "I do think they'll do something like that."

The Red Cross is helping the individuals who were displaced.
