After six straight days of 90+ degree weather in the Tri-State, several local schools pushed back their high school football start times. Still, the games — and excitement — didn't stop.

In Northern Kentucky, Highlands defeated Covington Catholic in the WCPO 9 Friday Football Game of the Week. The CovCath and Highlands rivalry dates back to 1968, with Highlands leading the all-time series, but the Colonels winning 10 of the past 11 matchups. The Bluebirds' ground game was the difference, getting them the 32-22 win.

A lightning delay pushed back the start of Conner vs. Ryle, but the Raiders didn't seem to mind. They beat their cross-country rival 46-8.

Kings played from behind for most of the night, falling to Winton Woods 19-5.

After a big win over St. X in Week 1, Lakota West kept the good momentum going with a 31-0 win over Hamilton.

It was close for much of the Beechwood vs. Campbell County game, but the Tigers scored three touchdowns in the fourth quarter to walk away with a 42-20 win.

Turpin took the lead and never looked back against Little Miami, winning 34-13.

The St. X Bombers are coming back from Centerville with a 34-10 win. They'll have their season home opener next week against Cathedral.

With just 10 seconds left in the game, Cincinnati Country Day scored to take down Blanchester 29-27.

Moeller defeated Bishop Dwenger 42-18 in Fort Wayne. Moeller QB Matt Ponatoski, last week's WCPO 9 Gold Star Chili Player of the Week, was 24 of 36 passing for 362 yards and four touchdowns, according to Moeller statistician George Smith.
