    ‘Fuming gases’ from hydrogen peroxide container prompts Abbott hazmat response

    TIPP CITY, Ohio (WDTN) — Hazmat crews spent several hours a nutrition manufacturing plant in Miami County.

    Miami County Dispatch confirmed hazmat and firefighters were called at 9:39 a.m. to Abbott Nutrition on Abbott Park Way in Tipp City. The Tipp City Fire Department detailed crews were sent for a “hydrogen peroxide reaction in a 300-gallon tote.”

    First responders found “fuming gases” entering the air from the tote.

    When 2 NEWS reached out to Abbott, we received the following statement:

    A minor incident occurred outside our facility today in a loading area. No employees were injured. We’re following our procedures and are working with local responders.”

    Abbott confirmed to 2 NEWS that no one was reportedly injured.

    The cause of the chemical reaction remains under investigation.
