SIDNEY, Ohio ( WDTN ) — A person has died after a crash involving a van and semi on I-75 Friday morning.

Troopers determined that the crash occurred when a 2019 Ford Transit van struck the rear of a stationary 2013 Freightliner semi truck. OSP says the crash occurred due to halted traffic on I-75 due to another crash earlier in the morning.

The van driver, identified as Damien Webb, 29 of Cardington, was ejected from the vehicle, and succumbed to his injuries from the crash.

The crash remains under investigation by OSP’s Piqua Post.

This was one of several reported crashes on southbound I-75 near Piqua this morning. OSP troopers responded to an initial crash around 5 a.m., which also involved a semi near mile marker 85. CareFlight was called to the scene for one person, according to dispatchers.

Traffic backups due to this initial crash resulted in the second crash around 7 a.m.

According to OHGO , all lanes have reopened after being closed for several hours.
