    Canadian company proposes takeover of Speedway/7-Eleven

    DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — A Canadian company wants to purchase a convenience store company with dozens of locations in the Miami Valley.

    According to Seven & i Holdings Co., Ltd, parent company of 7-Eleven, which owns Speedway, has been contacted by Canadian-based convenience store company ‘Alimentation Couche-Tard Inc.’

    Seven & i Holdings was presented with an acquisition “to acquire all outstanding shares of the Company,” which would include Speedway.

    A decision has yet to be made, but will be “promptly” announced when a decision occurs, according to Seven & i Holdings.

    “Neither the Board of Directors nor the Special Committee has made any determination at this time to either accept or reject the proposal from ACT, to enter into discussions with ACT or to pursue any alternative transaction,” said the release.

    ‘Alimentation Couche-Tard Inc.’ is the parent company of Circle K.
