    K-9 team and drone locate man after police chase, crash in Shelby County

    DAYTON, Ohio ( WDTN ) — Deputies with the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office utilized K-9 and drone support to locate a wanted man following a chase and crash Friday afternoon.

    According to the sheriff’s office, around 2:24 p.m., deputies were assisting local probation officers in apprehending an individual wanted for a felony offense.

    That individual was seen entering the passenger side of a Chevy vehicle, which was later stopped by deputies. During the stop, law enforcement discovered that the vehicle was stolen out of Troy.

    Man accused in police chase, standoff incident appears in court

    As the deputy exited his cruiser, the Chevy vehicle fled, ensuring a pursuit. The driver of the vehicle traveled to Pasco Montra Road, where it slid into a stopped Jeep Compass.

    The driver of the stolen vehicle fled on foot to nearby woods and a cornfield. The passenger was apprehended for a probation warrant.

    Additional search support arrived from Perry Port Salem Rescue, Port Jefferson Fire Department, Sidney Police Officers and a Shelby County K-9 team. The subject was tracked and later identified as Jesse James Wright, 22, of Dayton. Wright had an outstanding warrant from another county.

    He was arrested for fleeing, with additional charges pending.
