SPRINGFIELD, Ohio ( WDTN ) — Northwestern Local Schools held a “red out” event to pay tribute to a student killed in a school bus crash last year.

The event was held ahead of the high school football game to pay tribute to all impacted by the fatal bus crash, namely Aiden Clark.

Many wore a special red shirt that encouraged people to live like Aiden: accept everyone, make a difference and be an inspiration.

Community members say it was amazing to see everyone come together in support of the Clark family. Gabe Berner’s wife taught Aiden’s sister.

“It’s awesome to see a community come together. Not just Northwestern community, I get on Facebook and I see people that I know from the opposite end of Clark County supporting this fund. And it’s awesome to see because that family is a great family, and I can only imagine if my son was in an accident like that… so, you know, it touches my heart,” said Berner.

Money from buying the Live Like Aiden shirts will go towards a scholarship for Northwestern students set up by the Clark family.

The evening closed with a fireworks show.
