‘A good ride’: Moeller Brew Barn in Troy closing its doors today

Five years after opening, Moeller Brew Barn in Troy is shutting its doors for good after Saturday.

The brew pub made the announcement on Facebook Friday afternoon.

The post concluded with a somewhat ominous message about the impermanence of the brewing industry.

“Remember to support your local brewery, winery, distillery, restaurant, tavern or pub,” the post ended. “Because when it’s gone, it’s gone.”

The closure comes as the brewing industry faces a plateau in the growth of microbreweries and associated industries. According to the Brewers Association trade group , the number of brewpubs that closed acrossed the nation in 2023 (145) was nearly equal to the number that opened over that same period (165).

The number of brewpubs also fell to 3,502 in 2023 from 3,511 in 2022, a decline of .26 percent.

Moeller Brew Barn’s two other locations — downtown Dayton remains open across First Street from Day Air Ballpark , and in Maria Stein — remain open.

Cheers to a run of 5 years! It’s been a good ride, but like all of them, this one has to come to an end. Saturday, September 7th will be our last day of operation as Moeller Brew Barn in Troy. Come on in and say hi, have a bite to eat, and your favorite beverage.
