Three months ago, news broke that Sidney Bateman, who wrestled on the WWE’s main roster as both Reginald and Reggie, as well as Scrypt in NXT, wasn’t having his contract renewed. However, proving he still wanted to pursue his pro wrestling dream, the former Cirque du Soleil performer has since become a regular for  GCW under the name Sidney Akeem.

And now it has been confirmed by those in attendance at ROH’s latest television taping in Arlington, Texas, that he debuted for Tony Khan’s promotion against Johnny TV. Whether this was a one-off appearance or the start of something more long-term remains unknown, but it’s understood he looked good in defeat.

31-year-old Sidney joined WWE in 2020 and was soon introduced as a French sommelier character named Reginald alongside Carmella. From there, he would make his in-ring debut almost exactly a year after signing with the company, working an intergender match with Sasha Banks.

Yet, with that gimmick having a short shelf life, he soon became just Reggie and would chase the 24/7 Championship, which he ended up winning four times. Still, despite building up a fanbase, he was repackaged for a second time in 2022 when he was moved to NXT and became a mysterious masked wrestler known as Scrypts.
