Creative solutions sought for Paugus, Prescott, Janes aves to continue receiving city services
LACONIA — City councilors tabled a resolution that would have stopped public works from providing certain city services to Janes Avenue and approved another designating Paugus and Prescott avenues as emergency lanes for another year while they search for a solution to issues caused by old, confusing city ordinances.
Jonathan D. Booth: City putting value of home, retirement plan in jeopardy
The mayor of and the City of Laconia have literally stolen my home and retirement from me. Just want to make the citizens on the Department of Public Works’ list of roads to stop maintenance on aware of what’s coming their way. We need to get together and fight this. I have busted my butt my whole life in construction to be able to pay for this house. It was going to be pretty much my only source of income when I retire. It’s not much, but it’s mine. I’m beyond outraged with this city and all should be too. When my road washes out (probably today), and myself or my tenant cannot make it to the home he pays rent for, that renders my home of little to no value. Due to new requirements being brought on by DES, the city wants to push the cost of upgrades to a road they have maintained for over 50 years onto us. Call your mayor, city councilor and be loud, be heard. Who is running this circus of a city? If Mayor Andrew Hosmer and the director of DPW Wes Anderson want to bury their heads in the sand, I invite them to the bottom of Plantation Road, there is plenty of it that they’ve brought to a hill. There are so many other options to stabilize the road, is the director just not aware of these options? How dare the City of Laconia steal my home and retirement? A completely disappointed tax paying citizen on Plantation Road.
