Pittsburgh-area woman sentenced for deadly DUI crash
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — A Westmoreland County woman was sentenced to 6 to 15 years in prison for her role in a fatal crash in 2022. The Westmoreland County District Attorney's Office said 44-year-old Ahna Malik was sentenced to prison by Common Pleas Judge Meagan Bilik-DeFazio on Tuesday in connection with the crash that killed 57-year-old Dawn Coyne. Malik was previously found guilty in May on all 17 counts, including homicide by vehicle while DUI, according to the DA's news release. The deadly head-on crash happened in Hempfield Township in March 2022. The district attorney's office said Malik attempted to pass several vehicles on Arona Road before crashing into oncoming traffic, hitting and killing Coyne.Officials said toxicology reports found that Malik had drugs in her system, including crystal methamphetamine and marijuana, at the time of the crash. Law enforcement also found narcotics in Malik's vehicle, leading to several drug-related charges, the news release said.

Former President Donald Trump announced Friday afternoon that he is planning to return to Butler for a rally. He announced on social media that the event will honor Corey Comperatore, the man killed during the assassination attempt nearly two weeks ago. It will also honor the two men, David Dutch and James Copenhaver, injured in the shooting.
1 killed, 2 injured after stabbing in Pa.: police
One person was killed and two other people were injured following a stabbing in Allegheny County on Thursday. Police said they found a man with multiple stab wounds on the porch of a house along Worthington Street in Versailles at about 8 p.m., according to WPXI and WTAE. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

SOUTH PARK, Pa. (KDKA) -- One person was severely injured at a federal research center in South Park Township on Friday.The incident happened just before 1 p.m. behind security gates at the federal facility off Cochran Mill Road. Allegheny County officials said the person had severe arm and facial injuries. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said an outside vendor was loading hazardous waste material into a truck for disposal and was injured. A 5-gallon, off-gassing presumably exploded while being loaded into a truck. There are no concerns regarding the potential release of hazardous materials and there isn't a threat to the facility's staff, the CDC said. The county confirmed a hazmat coordinator was on scene to help and the Broughton Fire Company is leading the investigation locally. No information has been released on the outside vendor who was injured. According to the CDC's website, the Bruceton Research Center has two National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health divisions that work there. It's also home to an office of the Department of Labor's Mine Safety and Health Administration and the Department of Energy's National Energy Technology Laboratory.
