HENDERSON, Ky (WEHT) – Cairo Elementary School is encouraging all Kentucky schools to wear pink in honor of Lucy Nash.

Officials want people to share their pictures on social media with #PinkiesUpForLucy.

Nash was a fourth grader who collapsed during recess on the first day of school. She later was pronounced brain dead at a hospital in Indianapolis on August 13. The family has since returned to Henderson.

Visitation has been scheduled for August 23 from 1 to 8 p.m. at the Preston Arts Center on the campus of Henderson Community College with a bright pink celebration of Nash’s life being held at the same location being scheduled the next day at 11 a.m. with a private burial to follow.
