HENDERSON, Ky (WEHT) – A Sebree man has been arrested and charged with drug related charges in Posey County.

The Posey County Prosecutor’s Office states on Sunday in the late evening hours Benjamin Ballard, 66, was arrested by the Posey County Sheriff’s Office on the following charges:

    • Dealing in Methamphetamine
    • Possession of Methamphetamine
    • Maintaining a Common Nuisance

According to an affidavit, a Posey County deputy stopped Ballard for multiple traffic violations such as speeding and having no license plate light.

The deputy said Ballard and a male passenger were shaking, sweating and appeared nervous. During the stop, Ballard allegedly consented to a search where law enforcement say they found more than 60 grams of meth in the center console of the vehicle. Ballard reportedly claimed ownership.

Ballard is being held in the Posey County Jail without bond and is scheduled to appear in Posey Circuit Court for an initial hearing on Monday at 1:30 p.m.

Officials state if Ballard is convicted, he faces ten to 30 years in prison and a fine up to $10,000.
