HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – An Evansville man and woman are facing strangulation charges after a heated argument over who should have access to the home’s wi-fi.

Deputies say Shelah Drury and her uncle Brandon Furgeson were involved in an argument over who should have access to the wi-fi password in their residence. Furgeson allegedly disconnected the modem when Drury refused to share the password with him.

Furgeson claims he “lost balance” and accidentally threw the coffee on her when Drury allegedly ran towards and him and grabbed his throat. He says the only time he touched her was to stop him from choking her.

Drury’s recounting says the exact opposite. She claims Furgeson threw the coffee on her, leading her to push him away. She says she only touched Furgeson to push him away after being hit by coffee.

Furgeson and Drury have been charged with domestic battery and strangulation. They are both currently booked in the Vanderburgh County Jail.
