Cockfighting bust made in Adams County
Adams County Sheriff's Office was among a group of law enforcement agencies who responded to a property in Watkins this week where they say dozens of roosters were kept for cockfighting. Cockfighting is illegal across the United States.On Thursday deputies seized 39 birds, 32 of them roosters, from an area off Hudson Road. A spokesperson for the Adams County Sheriff's Office shared several photos from the seizure that show the location where the fighting allegedly took place.A 34-year-old suspect was arrested. Jesus Orozco is suspected of administering the animal fights and tentative charges against him include committing aggravated cruelty to animals.Cockfighting is considered a Class 5 felony punishable by one to three years in prison.A spokesperson for the Adams County Sheriff's Office said the case will be brought before the District Attorney's Office for the 17th Judicial District on Monday to file charges.
Body of 42-Year-Old Stabbing Victim Pulled From Cherry Creek in Denver
The body of a stabbing victim was discovered in Cherry Creek on Tuesday, July 16. Law enforcement officials are still investigating what happened. The victim was identified as Ethan Martinez, 42, according to the Office of the Medical Examiner. His official cause and manner of death are under investigation as of Friday evening, but the Denver Police Department says the man was stabbed.
No charges for Denver police officers who shot and killed man who charged with large knife
No criminal charges will be filed against three Denver police officers who last month shot and killed a man as he advanced toward them with a large knife. Denver District Attorney Beth McCann said Miguel Tapia charged quickly at two of the officers with a knife and, thus, all three officers were legally justified in using deadly physical force to stop him.

Bodycam video shows officers rescuing dog and kitten from inside hot camper
Although the heat wave has ceased in the Denver metro area, the Wheat Ridge Police Department is telling Coloradans to bring pets inside while it is still hot outside. The police department says on July 11 around 3 p.m., officers had received calls about a dog inside a camper that was barking while it was hot outside. Officers found the dog along with a kitten inside as the temperature in the camper ranged from 91 to 103 degrees, according to Wheat Ridge PD. The dog and kitten were removed from the camper, while the owner received a summons in court for animal cruelty.
