Urbana accepts new electrical supplier for MEA Program
URBANA, IL (Chambana Today) – Participants in Urbana’s Municipal Electric Aggregation (MEA) Program will have lower prices to look forward to with a brand-new vendor. The MEA Program is an initiative where the city buys electricity in bulk from a competitive supplier for its residents and businesses through a competitive bidding process. Participation is voluntary, but those who don’t opt in are automatically enrolled in the program. The MEA Program allows more community involvement in the city’s energy supply and allows people to acquire more affordable and reliable sources of energy.

August in Champaign-Urbana is a month of excitement and possibility. While we’ve enjoyed summer’s quiet campus, easy parking, and shorter lines at Urbana’s Bread Company, the buzz returns as we ramp up for the new season at the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts and Krannert Art Museum, the Spurlock Museum, Parkland College, new theatre seasons announced at the Station Theatre and Twin City Theatre Company, and a general excitement for all of the festivals coming up. Here’s some of the cool events coming up this August (all of which are inside because, August).
Efforts of UFD and Arrow Ambulance save man’s life in Urbana
URBANA, IL (Chambana Today) – The City of Urbana Fire Department (UFD) recognized members involved in a cardiac arrest save. On July 18 at 4:45 a.m., Engine 251 (E251) was dispatched to a lift assist and rushed to the scene only to find a locked door and no easy access inside. After looking around and trying to prevent damage to the home, E251 found an open window and entered to unlock the door at the front. There they found a man lying on the floor. They proceeded to help him up, but while doing so, they say that the man went unresponsive and into cardiac arrest.
