The Hillcrest Academy Raven boys and girls are ready for action Monday against Southeast Iowa Superconference foes Columbus and Louisa-Muscatine. The Raven girls are 10-12 on the season, 6-7 in the Superconference, following back-to-back losses to Wapello and L-M. The Ravens hit .293 as a team with a .402OBP and slug, scoring 152 runs on 156 hits with 88 walks and 164 strikeouts. Three Ravens hit .350 or better led by Malia Yoder at .538 with 35 total hits, 28 runs scored and 27 driven in. Delaney Shaw and Claire Withrow are also over .350. In the circle, Yoder is 10-10 with a .198 opponent average on 119 hits, 63 earned runs, 152 strikeouts and a 3.88ERA.
Burmeister Silences Demon Bats in Shortened No-Hitter; Hawk’s Offense Rolls in Rivalry
The newest entry in the longstanding Washington and Mid-Prairie baseball rivalry played out Saturday at Paul N. Bailey Field in Wellman. The Golden Hawks authored an impressive 11-0 win over Washington in five innings. The Demons best chance to get on the board came in the first when they loaded the bases on a pair of walks and a Mid-Prairie error but couldn’t break through against Golden Hawk starter Bowen Burmeister. Demon starter Brady Krantz slowed the Hawks down through the first two innings, putting up zeros before Mid-Prairie exploded in the third.
Washington Softball Takes Second Half of Double Dip at L&M
The Washington Demon softball team brought their recent losing streak to an end with a 16-8 victory at Louisa-Muscatine last night in the second game of a doubleheader. Having been shut out in the first six innings of Game One, Washington wasted little time getting on the scoreboard in Game Two, scoring four runs in the first inning.
Ravens and Panthers Meet in Tuesday Twin Bill
The Hillcrest Academy Raven baseball and softball teams host the Pekin Panthers tonight a set of Southeast Iowa Superconference matchups. The Raven boys are 15-3 on the year, 9-1 leaders of the Superconference North and winners of four-in-a-row, after getting by Louisa-Muscatine Monday night 5-3. The Ravens are hitting .291 as a team with a .434OBP and .387 slug, scoring 158 runs on 139 hits with 103 walks and 115 strikeouts. Five Hillcrest hitters are at .300 or better, led by Rowan Miller at .469 with 23 total hits and 22RBI. Seth Ours leads with 26 runs scored and a .328 mark. Liam Schrock, Mason Helmuth and Phoenix Anderson are all over .300. On the mound, the Raven staff ERA is 3.17 with a .220 opponent average on 95 hits, 50 earned runs and 91 strikeouts. Ours is 4-1 with a 2.69ERA, Liam and Lawson Schrock, and Rowan Miller are a combined 8-0 with a three ERA.
