RAPID RIVER — Ann Helen Scizak passed away peacefully in her home on July 1, 2024 following a brief battle with cancer. Ann was born on October 22, 1947 to Leslie and Eudene MacDonald and grew up in St. Ignace, Michigan. Ann graduated from LaSelle High School in St. Ignace in 1965 where she was a cheerleader and the homecoming queen. Her classmates described her as the sweetest and sharpest girl in the class.
Marquette tops Gladstone Indians
GLADSTONE — It was a beautiful sunny day in Gladstone as the Indians played host to Marquette at Don Olsen Field. Logan Peterson got a lead-off single to start the first inning for the Blues. Blake Walther hit a RBI single to left to give the Blues a 1-0 lead. Easton Miller singled and Nick Pantti walked to load the bases and Gibson Jezewski singled to centerfield to score two runs and extend the lead to 3-0. Isaac Sarles also hit an RBI single and Carsen Belanger hit a ground ball to the shortstop and reached on an error with another run crossing the plate. ESCANABA — Bay college is raising tuition and student fees for the upcoming academic year. According to a press release, there is a “modest” increase in tuition as well as student fees for the 2024-2025 academic year. The increase in tuition is an average of 3.5 percent.
