Victorson installed as Elks District Deputy for Upper Peninsula
AUSTIN, Texas — Thousands of members of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks of the United States of America and guests have gathered in Austin, Texas, from June 30 to July 3 for the BPO Elks National Convention. During the convention, Steven D. Victorson, of Bark River, was installed as District Deputy for the BPO Elks for lodges in the Upper Peninsula District of the Michigan Elks Association. Woman dead, 3 children safe after Boney Falls water rescue
WELLS TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WLUC) - A 36-year-old woman is dead, and three children were safely rescued from the water at Boney Falls in Wells Township Thursday night. The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office said officers were dispatched for a water rescue at Boney Falls Campground around 7:45 p.m. It was reported that three children and one adult were in the water in distress.

Escanaba DDA hosts inaugural Patriotic Polka Party
ESCANABA, Mich. (WZMQ) – The Fourth of July may have passed, but Escanaba’s Downtown Development Authority (DDA) kept the celebration going Friday evening. The DDA hosted a Patriotic Polka Party at the Karas Bandshell in Ludington Park. Attendees enjoyed food, raffles, and authentic polka music performed by The Mix, a band from Pulaski, Wisconsin. The Little League state Majors Division tournament in girls softball will be played at three fields at the Kaufman Sports Complex in north Marquette starting Saturday morning.
