Orange County Historical Society to celebrate 50th anniversary of historic Lindley House Museum July 27
ORANGE COUNTY- The Orange County Historical Society will celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Historic Lindley House Museum on Saturday, July 27th. The event will be held (weather permitting) at the Thomas Elwood Lindley House in Paoli and will run from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Planned activities include guided house tours, special guests, musical entertainment by Lick Creek Band, arts & crafts, heritage-related activities & more. Hometown Scoops will be offering cool and delicious ice cream treats. Attendees are encouraged to bring their lawn chairs.
Report finds former Oolitic town clerk didn't deposit nearly $80k in utility payments
Former Lawrence County Auditor Jessica Staggs didn't deposit nearly $80,000 in utility payments when she was the city clerk in Oolitic, according to the Indiana State Board of Accounts. Staggs left her job in Oolitic after being elected auditor in 2021, but resigned from the position without explanation in December 2023.

Take an interpretive strolls through Bedford's Zahn Historic District on July 23
This month’s Bedford Park Program will be a historical walk during which participants can learn about one of Bedford’s oldest sections of town. Marla Jones and Teena Ligman will lead the walk through the Zahn Historic District, just south of the downtown square. The walk is on Tuesday, July 23, and people should meet in front of the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, at 1723 I St. in Bedford.
City of Bedford updates milling and paving schedule
BEDFORD – The City of Bedford has updated its tentative milling schedule for July 18-19 and paving schedule for July 22-July 30 for the following roads. There will be no street parking while milling or paving. The schedule is dependent on weather conditions. Work is scheduled daily from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.
