* Wood County mibsters (marble players) journeyed once again to the National Marbles Tournament in Wildwood, N.J., and this year, Williamstown Middle High seventh-grader Lucie Clark finished in the events semifinals. Clark, 12, was joined by other Wood County Marbles Club members Sophia Drennen, Ezra Delbaugh and Ryker Bungard. “These kids really represented our county well with incredible sportsmanship and tremendous skill,” Coach Ryan Ice said. “They battled the best marbles players in the nation and Lucie finished as a semifinalist.” Bonus points, they gave us all the opportunity to learn the word “mibsters.” Congratulations on doing so well in your adventure!
‘Exceptional’ township swimmer will compete in summer Olympics
A star swimmer at the South Jersey Aquatic Club (SJAC) in Voorhees will represent his home country of Guyana at the summer Olympics in Paris later this month. Raekwon Noel – who joined his father in the U.S. in 2021 – sought better academic and swimming opportunities beyond a shared pool in his home country that lacked a pace clock and was closed due to COVID. Noel’s mother has yet to see him swim competitively in America.
