Witnesses stop attempted carjacking in Fairfax County
FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. — An attempted carjacking was stopped by several Good Samaritans in Fairfax County today, according to the Fairfax County Police Department (FCPD.) In the 7600 block of Allman Drive in Annandale, a 38-year-old man allegedly carjacked a victim then attempted carjackings on Lukens Lane and the 8600 block of Richmond Highway in Mount Vernon an hour later, police said in a post on X, formerly Twitter.

Virginia State Police tried to stop a Nissan driving west on Old Keene Mill Rd. in Springfield at 5:14 p.m. on June 30 for reckless driving. Police say the driver refused to stop, instead speeding away. The pursuit concluded near Old Keene Mill Rd and Spring Street when the Nissan struck multiple other vehicles, and the suspect driver and passenger fled on foot. The Nissan was left in drive and stopped by the same state trooper who positioned his vehicle in front of the moving Nissan.

A Douglas man has been handed a 130-month prison sentence for his role in an illegal alien smuggling operation that resulted in a death. Manuel Victor Gastelum, 27, received the sentence after pleading guilty to charges of Transportation of Illegal Aliens for Profit Resulting in Death.
