Mysterious removal of ’empathy’ signs leads artist to stop coming to Arlington
The man responsible for posting over 1,500 “empathy” signs around the area is steering clear of Arlington and some other Northern Virginia locales these days. That’s because an unknown person or entity has been taking down the handmade markers meant to encourage greater human connection and understanding. In Arlington, in Falls Church and as far out as Annandale, the signs — which started appearing in 2022 — started going missing from utility poles sometime around March.
Pedestrian improvements added at The Boro in Tysons
Pedestrians can now cross Westpark Drive to get to and from The Boro without having to walk over to the Greensboro Drive or Route 7 (Leesburg Pike) intersections. A new High-Intensity Activated Crosswalk (HAWK) pedestrian beacon was installed at Boro Place, just outside Whole Foods, in June, one of a handful of accessibility improvements that The Boro’s developer promised to deliver with its expansion of the Tysons neighborhood.

Four people arrested for a robbery after returning to the scene of the crime
WASHINGTON — Four people are in custody after they walked past the crime scene while officers were investigating the robbery they are accused of committing. Officers were flagged down on Tuesday at 12:30 a.m. by the victim who said he had been robbed along U Street, Northwest. The victim told police he was jumped by four people. The group then stole his stuff before running away.
