Simplot To Close California Plant
Boise-based Simplot will close a manufacturing plant in California, and separately close a number of its Simplot Grower Solutions locations. The company announced last year it would shut down its plant in Lathrop, California. The plant is part Company’s Mining & Manufacturing division and makes fertilizer, feed phosphates and industrial products. According to BoiseDev, the Lathrop plant will close by the end of the month, and 150 positions will be eliminated.

California spending $800 million in 'climate' funding on price-controlled homes

Gavin Newsom announced a new round of $789 million in investment from the state’s cap-and-trade revenue towards building 2,483 price-controlled homes and some transportation infrastructure as a means of climate change mitigation. This is the eighth round of funding for California’s Affordable Housing and Sustainable Communities program, which uses Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund revenue from the state’s cap-and-trade program that requires greenhouse gas emitters to purchase emissions credits. Suspects arrested in Compton after armed home invasion in Sherman Oaks
At least two suspects are in custody after a terrifying home invasion robbery Monday night in Sherman Oaks.Police say three armed suspects broke into a home around 9 p.m. while a woman was taking a shower at the time. It's not clear what if anything they stole from the home. The woman was not injured.Undercover investigators had apparently already been tracking the suspects and with help from an LAPD helicopter followed them to a neighborhood in Compton in the area of 152nd Street and Maie Avenue before attempting the arrest.One suspect was seen running from officers through a neighborhood and onto a school property before eventually being taken into custody. Police were continuing to look for additional suspects.A second burglary was also reported in the Sherman Oaks area Monday night, in a neighborhood near the Fashion Square mall.
