A Thursday altercation between sisters turned into one threatening the other with a kitchen knife resulting in two felony and one misdemeanor charges.

Around 7:30 p.m., Thursday, police were called to a residence at Woods Edge Court in rural West Lafayette. The victim called to indicate she was being threatened by her sister, Taylor Renee Kelp, 24, 281 Woods Edge Court.

Battle Ground town marshals initially responded and separated the two "who had been fighting on and off all day," according to a probable cause affidavit. Then county police responded to the call. The victim reported that Kelp "took a swing at her, which led to a fight where both were trading blows."

It was after that last event, that Kelp "went to the knife drawer and got a kitchen knife. Kelp took the sheath off the knife and said she was going to kill (the victim)." It was then when the victim called police.

Kelp initially told police she did not remember what had happened, but while being transported to the Tippecanoe County Jail she " made a comment acknowledging she did threaten" the victim, according to the affidavit.

Kelp faces felony charges of intimidation and criminal recklessness. She was also charged with a misdemeanor of disorderly conduct. As of Friday afternoon, she remained incarcerated.
