As Purdue continues to negotiate with CityBus over off-campus bus fares, the public will have a chance to weigh in next week.

The Town Hall for Transit will be held Aug. 3 at the West Lafayette Public Library, according to a release from event organizers.

The meeting’s stated goal is to publicize the negotiation process between the university and CityBus, which announced in late April that off-campus bus loops would no longer be free. The company said it would offer semester-long passes for $99 in addition to the fare options already in place, including one-way, day passes and 31-day passes.

Purdue was “surprised,” according to previous Exponent reporting, and said it would explore alternatives.

The event is open to the public, and will run from 5:30-6:30 p.m. in the library’s maple room. Attendees can also access the meeting via Zoom.
