ROUNDING THIRD: Hold yourself to a higher standard
My office in Oriskany has a lot of pictures from the past. Since I also function as the president of the alumni association, we have a lot of old school mementoes. The other day, I happened to be looking at a pic of the 1948 mixed chorus at OCS. There were about 48 of them. Those days are long gone. What was evident, though, was how well-dressed and “normal” looking those kids were. Nice white dresses on the girls and slacks, white shirt and ties on the boys. I miss those days. This was long before fast foods and soda pop began to erode our national visage.

Syracuse band Grateful for Biggie may be the weirdest mashup ever
Scott Mervis, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette (TNS) It’s highly unlikely that Jerry Garcia could have told you who Biggie Smalls was, and vice versa. That’s how far removed the late Grateful Dead guitarist and vocalist was from the style of Brooklyn gangsta rap that Biggie Smalls (real name Christopher Wallace, a.k.a. Notorious B.I.G.) epitomized in the 1990s. But a band from Syracuse has found a way to blend the disparate musical franchises.
