Laurance J. McIntyre

February 21, 1942 – January 17, 2024 - Laurance J. McIntyre died of Pulmonary Fibrosis on January 17, 2024 at age 81. He was born on February 21, 1942 in San Diego, CA to Joseph and Catherine McIntyre.

Larry was raised in Lakeside and El Cajon, CA, attending Grossmont High School. He later married Ruth Vernielle (Bodin) McIntyre on February 23, 1963.

Larry was an active member of Thompson Road Bible Fellowship. He served as Mayor of West Linn 1983-86, as well as a number of councils and other memberships including WL City Council, Southfork Waterboard, Willamette Falls Cable TV, West Linn and Clackamas County Historical Societies. For many years, he was very involved in the WL Fair Board and served as annual MC for ambassador selection.

Larry held various sales positions during the years before he retired. After retirement, he wrote and produced plays through the WL Historical Society, was a Docent at Museum of the Oregon Territory, and created several exhibits on display at the museum. He built floats for parades in both Pomona, California and then later for the WL Old Fashioned Fair parade, winning many awards, and was the Fair Grand Marshall twice over the years.

Larry is survived by his daughter Barbara (Gary) Majors; son Jeffrey (Celeste) McIntyre; his grandsons Cameron, Collin, Taylor and Daniel Majors; granddaughter Kathryn McIntyre; and his sister Lynn (Pat) Berryhill. He was preceded in death by his son David McIntyre; granddaughter Chelsea McIntyre; and sisters Joann Hansen and Jean Hope.

A memorial service will be held on March 9, 2024 at 2pm at Willamette Christian Church, 3153 S Brandywine Dr., West Linn, OR 97068.
