After reviewing the charter earlier this year, the The West Linn-Wilsonville School Board voted to renew the Three Rivers Charter School contract for five more years during its Monday, June 9 meeting.

The contract renewal extends Three Rivers’ charter until June 30, 2029.

“I got so excited because I know what a well-loved part of our school district Three Rivers Charter School is and so I'm excited to vote ‘Yes’ on this motion,” said board member Kirsten Wyatt. “I’m just really excited about the vision that you have for the school.”

Three Rivers is the district’s only charter school and enrolls students in grades fourth through eighth. TRCS focuses on educational individualization and allows teachers and students to focus on their particular passions as a way of developing natural curiosity and knowledge. The three “cornerstones” of TRCS are “genuine relationship, academic individualization and personal rigor.”

Some of the highlights of the TRCS school year are outdoor school, field day and Individual Projects Night — when the TRCS community gathers to learn about different topics from every student, covering subjects from astronomy to archaeology.

The only significant change to the TRCS contract renewal was the addition of five enrollment slots for children of TRCS staff members. This will allow TRCS to recruit educators with the added convenience and benefit of enrolling their own family at the charter school for the five grades the school serves.
