The Piano Man, Billy Joel, out on the town with his daughter in West Palm Beach

On some of the biggest stages in the world, Billy Joel is a rock star, the Piano Man, a pillar of pop culture.

But on a recent day at the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts in West Palm Beach , Billy Joel was just a dad on the town with his daughter.

On June 5, he and his 8-year-old daughter Della Rose went to "Space Explorers: The Infinite," an immersive virtual-reality experience at the Kravis through Sept. 2, a Kravis spokesperson confirmed.

Those who step into the virtual-reality world of "The Infinite" don Oculus Quest 2 headsets and explore the inner and outer workings of the International Space Station via high-resolution video captured and adapted by film studio Felix & Paul Studios and Montreal-based PHI Studio.

Attendees move through the 45-minute show by interacting with virtual bubbles that appear at points around the floor inside the exhibit.

The Kravis Center captured a quick video of Joel and Della after "The Infinite," where the father-daughter duo said they enjoyed a moment in the experience where participants seemingly step off the edge of the International Space Station into the open maw of stars and darkness.

"She just ran," Joel said, smiling and pointing to Della.

Joel is a longtime part-time resident of Palm Beach County . Earlier this year, he was connected to the $29 million purchase of a home in a gated community in Boca Raton , and he has owned property in Palm Beach and Manalapan through the years as well.

Public records in 2021 suggested Joel bought a townhouse that year in Palm Beach . His ocean-to-lake estate at 1110 S. Ocean Blvd., Manalapan, is listed for sale with a price tag of $49.9 million , down from the original listing price of $64.9 million.

Joel and wife Alexis are frequently seen at Palm Beach events during the season. They have two daughters, Della Rose and Remy Anne, who is 6 years old. Joel has another daughter, fellow singer Alexa Ray Joel, 38, from his past marriage to supermodel Christie Brinkley.

Della Rose just made the cut to be able to take part in "Space Explorers: The Infinite." The virtual reality experience is not recommended for children under age 8, and children ages 8 to 12 can attend only if a parent or legal guardian signs a waiver. Children under age 8 will not be admitted, because it is not recommended by the makers of the virtual reality technology being used, the Kravis Center has said.
