Extensive Agenda for County Council Tonight
Oconee County Council will convene tonight for its sole July meeting, featuring an extensive executive session agenda. The meeting includes public hearings and third reading votes on ordinances concerning lot size regulations and tax agreements with Sandvik Machining Solutions USA, LLC. Additionally, a second reading vote is scheduled on conveying easement rights to Duke Energy Carolinas, LLC. Council will also address resolutions for an easement agreement with the U.S. Department of the Army and procurement requests from the Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Department, including funding for park improvements and signage projects. The executive session will cover economic development matters, legal advice on contractual issues, and opioid litigation. The meeting begins at 6 p.m. at 415 S. Pine St., Walhalla.
Softball Completes 2024-25 Roster
CLEMSON, S.C. – Clemson Softball Head Coach John Rittman announced the addition of four players to the 2024-25 roster on Wednesday. The Tigers will welcome transfers Reese Basinger (Winthrop), Jamison Brockenbrough (Tennessee) and Brook Melnychuk (LA Tech) to the team this fall, as well as adding incoming freshman Marian Collins.
Road Closure in Clemson Starts Today
Starting today, July 17, Fowler Corporation will close a portion of Keowee Trail in Clemson for up to two weeks to install storm drainage infrastructure for the 412 College Project. Access to Abernathy Park will be available via US 123, and businesses opposite the road closure can be accessed from College Ave. The City Police Department has reviewed and approved the road closure plan.

Clemson’s large Dockside project of apartment living and commercial space received an innovator’s award during the Student Housing Business annual meeting in Austin, Texas. Dockside covers more than 22 thousand square feet of property abutting Lake Hartwell at the bridge into Oconee County. The Dockside partners –the builder, the architects, and the bankers – developed the project in a way to offer an upscale living experience alongside the lake, dock access to which is provided. The LLC Fountain Residential Partners is a privately-held Dallas company whose official Brent Little is behind plans to build apparently similar housing on the Oconee County side on 123 between Bojangles and the former Paws Restaurant.
