    CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued for most of southern West Virginia.

    A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect until 7 PM Friday evening for the following counties:

    Boone, Braxton, Cabell, Calhoun, Clay, Fayette, Gilmer, Greenbrier, Jackson, Kanawha, Lincoln, Logan, Mason, McDowell, Mercer, Mingo, Nicholas, Putnam, Raleigh, Roane, Summers, Wayne, and Wyoming.

    The watch comes ahead of expected showers and thunderstorms this afternoon and evening with a cold front.

    According to the National Weather Service, a few storms could be strong to severe with damaging winds and heavy downpours that could lead to flash flooding.
