West Virginia hires first Developmental Disability Coordinator

CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The West Virginia Department of Human Services (DoHS) has appointed Susan File as the first Statewide Intellectual and Developmental Disability (IDD) Coordinator.

In this new position, File will be the primary point of contact for addressing service opportunities and barriers for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in West Virginia .

Christina Mullins, DoHS Deputy Secretary for Mental Health and Substance Use Disorders, expressed excitement about File joining the team, emphasizing her extensive experience and dedication to behavioral health.

File’s responsibilities as IDD Coordinator will include leading a pilot project for community engagement specialists, continuing the implementation of Project ECHO with WVU Center for Excellence in Disabilities, and providing leadership to ensure the department’s mission and values are achieved statewide.

Susan File expressed her honor in taking on this role and her commitment to improving and expanding services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in West Virginia.

With over 22 years of experience in the behavioral health field, including roles at the Office of Inspector General and as the president of File Consulting, LLC, she brings a wealth of expertise to her new position.

File reports to Christina Mullins and started her role on Monday, July 29, 2024.
