A touching moment has emerged from a man hailing from what's been called the world's most inbred family , as he reveals his most cherished childhood memory.

The Whittaker clan, brought into the spotlight by filmmaker and their new ally Mark Laita, could be likened to figures out of the harrowing 1972 survival film , "Deliverance." Marked by quite tangible physical differences, the family has faced speculation about their interrelations, a topic that has drawn widespread curiosity.

America and beyond were introduced to this unique family from Odd, West Virginia , when Mark released a documentary on YouTube, sparking a fanbase genuinely concerned for the Whittakers' well-being.

During an earlier visit this year, Mark toured the new home of family patriarch Larry, acquired through fundraising efforts and the kindness of viewers who followed their story, reports the Daily Star .

In a candid moment captured on camera, Mark inquires of the once-married Larry, "What's your favourite memory as a kid? ". Larry's answer was unexpectedly simple and poignant, as he didn't recount a specific event but rather simply stated, "Ray," referencing his brother.

To ensure clarity, Mark repeated, "Ray? " and received an affirming nod from Larry, with Ray in the shared space. Among the surviving members of the Whittaker family, Ray, with his thick beard, seems to express himself uniquely, often communicating just through a series of grunts and sounds.

The conversation carried on, with Mark recalling, "Ray used to be much rowdier though. I remember the first time I met Ray when Eddie was around and Ray was so out of control."

Mark revealed that Ray would often refuse to wear a belt, causing his pants to fall down to his ankles when he lost his temper and ran around. In another discussion, Mark discovered that Ray once scared a woman by unexpectedly grabbing her.

When Mark inquired if Ray had ever had a girlfriend, Ray responded with two enthusiastic grunts and began nodding, despite a family member's insistence that he hadn't. To resolve the disagreement, Mark consulted another relative.

They clarified: "Ray had hold of her, that's what we were told. We don't know. I had no idea, that's what we were told. That was a long time ago. He had hold of on, he had a woman up on the hill here," added Kevin Whittaker. Another family member informed Mark: "She screamed when Ray had hold of her."
