PROVIDENCE, R.I. ( WPRI ) – West Warwick’s Lisa and Xenia Raye helped West Warwick win its third-straight state track title this past season with five individual gold medals and the sisters added three more golds at New Englands.

Most recently, Lisa made her mark on the biggest stage. The sophomore won the 100 and 200 at the New Balance Nationals.

“It’s definitely been a little crazy, but I do like the opportunities it’s giving me,” she said. “I can’t wait to see what else I get and what other opportunities come.”

“It’s a great experience,” Xenia said. “Not a lot of people have the opportunity to compete alongside their sibling, so I’m very proud to be beside her at all times and to be able to run with her. It’s just great.”

The sisters’ dynamic has been critical to their success.

“Xenia is the key. She’s the workhorse,” said . “She keeps Lisa in line.”

Lisa and Xenia will try and add more gold at the USA Track & Field Junior Olympics before preparing for their final season together with the Wizards.

It would seem difficult to top what they’ve already done, but the sisters are already thinking about the encore.

“We have a lot more in store and I fully believe it’s our year next year,” Xenia said.

“It’s a wild ride but I’m enjoying it,” said West Warwick’s head track coach Jeffrey Parenteau. “I’m so happy for them because they put the work in. They know what it takes. Everything we ask them to do, they do it and this is the result.”
