Man sentenced to 123 years in prison for his role in Bloomington shooting
A Chicago area man has been sentenced to 123 years in prison for his involvement in a fatal shooting that occurred on Bloomington's west side in 2020. Malcolm J. Johnson, 31, of Riverdale, was convicted in May of killing 20-year-old Jaleel Johnson, who was a father and concrete worker. The shooting also resulted in injuries to two other people who were in their 20s.
OSF HealthCare opens Illinois orthopedic practice
Peoria, Ill.-based OSF HealthCare has opened a new orthopedic office in Peru, Ill., according to a July 25 report from Shaw Local News Network. The Peru office will open its doors July 29, and will offer X-ray services nearby. It will be staffed by orthopedic surgeons Connor Kasik, DO, and Robert Mitchell, DO.

A mother and grandmother, who was a retired Cook County probation officer, are dead after a confrontation in a child custody dispute on the Upper East Side of Manhattan on Friday, NYPD said.It happened just before 9 a.m.People were out enjoying the day, many with baby strollers, and they ran for cover when the shots rang out.The NYPD's Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny said that a custody dispute was the cause of the tragic murder-suicide.Marissa Galloway, 45, had just placed her child in the car, and was putting a stroller in the trunk when the grandmother of the child approached.Police...
State, county, city announce 'leap of faith' quantum computing facility in Chicago
(The Center Square) – The State of Illinois, Cook County and the city of Chicago have announced that the new Illinois Quantum and Microelectronics Park will be built on former U.S. Steel property on Chicago’s Southeast Side.
