Hundreds of community members enjoyed the annual Fourth of July Parade in Westchester on Thursday. The parade started at the corner of Mayfair and Dorchester and ended at Community Park on Bond Street. We were there to capture the memorable sights.
Convicted felon sentenced again on gun charges in Peoria
PEORIA, Ill. – A Peoria man has been sentenced to 55 months in prison, along with three years of supervised release for being a felon in possession of a firearm. 39-year-old Alan Collins was previously convicted of felony offenses in 2004 and 2005 in Cook County, along with two prior federal convictions for firearm possession in the Central Districts of Illinois in 2008 and 2014, according to the Department of Justice.
Illinois Residents Getting Sick Because of a Dangerous Parasite
If you've been feeling sick over the past couple of months, it may be due to a parasite that typically causes more illnesses in the summer months. According to the Centers for Disease Control, they're investigating an "outbreak linked to a food source" which causes a diarrheal illness reportedly due to a parasite called Cyclospora cayetanensis, or cyclosporiasis.
