(Glenwood) Glenwood’s Head Football Coach Cory Faust noted some positives despite the team’s loss to Sioux City East in the season opener last Friday night. East won the game 41-14.

Coach Faust mentioned that the Glenwood roster appears to be typical. However, one thing that may not be immediately apparent is the six juniors on the roster at the end of the 2023 football season. He explained that although there are 17 seniors on the team this season, they are without the four-year players they have had in the past.

The Rams’ leading tackler and two-way player, Brody Shafer, returns this season. Jack Johnson, first-team all-district wide receiver, is back, and Mason Koehler, the first-team all-district offensive and defensive lineman, is back. Cole Staudt is the starting Quarterback for the Rams. He had to wait his turn, playing behind a trio of quarterbacks for the Rams the last couple of years.

Coach Faust is impressed with Atlantic’s line play and different offensive style. The Trojans have rushed for 799 yards in their first two outings and average 10 yards per carry, led by Tyson O’Brien, who has 35 carries for 350 yards.

Coach Faust says the key to the Rams’ success this week will be to limit unforced errors, correct alignments, play hard through the whistle, play together, and respond to adversity with class and grit.

The kick-off is at 7:00 p.m. We will broadcast the game on 95.7 F.M. and video stream it on westerniowatoday.com. The pre-game show also starts at 7:00 p.m.
