Scammers are Hard at Work This Summer
(NAFB) Scammers are working hard this summer to get as much money and personal information from unsuspecting consumers as possible. Sean Voskuhl, the AARP State Director for Oklahoma, says scamming is big business. He says there are several ways that scammers try to swipe money and personal information from consumers.
RAGBRAI 2024 Starts Today
(Glenwood) Today, thousands of bicycle enthusiasts are embarking on the first day of the Register’s Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa, traveling from Glenwood to Red Oak. The cyclists will cover 41.9 miles, passing through Silver City, Henderson, and Emerson before reaching their overnight destination in Red Oak. The route spans 434 miles, starting in Glenwood on Sunday, July 21, and ending in Burlington.

Jo Ann Harmsen, 95, of Rio Rancho, NM, and formerly of Atlantic, IA, died on March 22, 2024. Jo Ann was born October 31, 1928, in Harlan, Iowa, the daughter of Grover C. and Ruth (Tucker) Abrell; she grew up there and graduated from Harlan High School in 1947. She was united in marriage to Lloyd W. Harmsen on February 20, 1949, at the Bethel Baptist Church in Harlan. They lived on the Harmsen farm in Walnut, Iowa for 23 years.
