Rock Valley Man Taken To Hospital After Hawarden Area Crash
Hawarden, Iowa — A Rock Valley man was taken to a hospital after an accident on Wednesday, July 3, 2024. The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that at about 4:00 p.m., 43-year-old Pieter Hanekom of Rock Valley was driving a 2009 Peterbilt semi-tractor eastbound on Highway 10. Hanekom reported a tire ruptured, causing him to lose control of the vehicle. The truck entered the north ditch, where it came to a rest on the driver’s side.
Over two-dozen homes labeled total loss
NORTH SIOUX CITY, SD (KELO.com) — More than two dozen homes at McCook Lake have been red-tagged, and are being called a total loss from the recent flooding. Most of those homes are on Northshore Drive, and in most cases, the foundations collapsed because of the rushing flood waters. Those homes have been deemed to be too dangerous to enter. Sioux City Railroad Museum Working On Flood Recovery
Sioux City, Iowa — All of the buildings at the Sioux City Railroad Museum were flooded when the Big Sioux River went over a levee in the city’s Riverside neighborhood. That includes the Holocaust Rails exhibit which debuted in April of 2023 with photos and items from the Holocaust of World War Two.
Former Band Teacher at Washington High School in Cherokee has Plead Guilty to Harassment of a Student
Cherokee, IA (KICD) — A former band teacher at Washington High School in Cherokee has plead guilty to harassment of a student. The State of Iowa has dropped previous charges against 46-year-old Joseph Vannatta, and the state says in online documents that the case does not constitute a sexually motivated offense.
Spencer business owner discusses recent flood event
Residents in communities like Spencer are now in recovery mode since flooding caused major damage in the last two weeks. Brock Storm lives in Everly, but has a business along the banks of the Little Sioux River in Spencer. Storm, who has relatives in the broadcast area, tells Radio on the Go News the heavy rain caused the river to rise very rapidly on the night of June 21st.

Spencer Man Facing Felony Domestic Assault Charge
–A Spencer man is facing a felony charge after being taken into custody early Wednesday morning at ABATE Park. According to the Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office, Deputies responded to a request for assistance at ABATE Park around 3:30 AM Wednesday. After conducting a brief investigation, Deputies arrested 26-year-old Austin David Chinn of Spencer on a charge of Domestic Abuse Assault—Impeding Air/Blood Flow Causing Bodily Injury, a Class D Felony.
