WESTON, WI (WSAU) — Two new water wells are online in Weston, but that won’t be the end of their water infrastructure upgrades. Public Works Director Michael Wodalski says the new wells will allow them to shift attention to cleaning up other issues without interrupting service. “We won’t have to worry about being low on water,” said Wodalski. “We can do well rehabs, clean up secondary contaminants like iron and manganese that cause aesthetic issues in some of our wells.”

Good News Project receives grant to continue renovations
WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAW) - After 41 years of serving the community, a local non-profit is looking to improve its own building for a change. The Good News Project’s loading dock is located off Langsdorf and North Fifth Streets hasn’t been upgraded in two decades. Not only does it need cement replacement, but also additional gravel to get the trucks up to the dock.
Historical Society to host Kid’s History Day
WAUSAU – The Marathon County Historical Society will host its annual Kid’s History Day Aug. 23. Get your sleuth hat on and become junior history detectives looking to solve a history mystery. Attendees can do crafts and activities, as well as outings that will bring the theme to life. Activities will include touring an historic home, museum exhibits with scavenger hunts, visiting downtown locations and more.

Security measures improved library safety, director says
A new security team at the Marathon County Library has led to major improvements in safety for staff and patrons, the library systems director says. Marathon County Public Library Director Leah Giordano says that the security has been in place for two weeks. The library sought to contract for security after a number of disturbing incidents that have made both library patrons and staff feel unsafe at the Wausau branch.
