WESTPORT — Old Dominion’s lead guitarist Brad Tursi steps into the hometown spotlight Oct. 12 with a stop on his solo “Parallel Love” tour at the Levitt Pavilion. The Staples High School graduate, who’s found success with the Platinum-selling band based in Nashville, will perform his first collection of solo work at the Westport show. It starts at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, at the pavilion, 40 Jesup Road.

SOMERS, N.Y. - Mrs. Virginia Flood, a resident of Heritage Hills for 47 years, celebrated her 100th birthday on Sunday, July 7, with family and friends at a brunch at Wee Burn Country Club in Darien, CT. Also known as Gee Gee or Ginnie, Mrs. Flood (nee Bernene) was raised in Bedford. She was an administrative assistant to the president of Northern Westchester Hospital for 25 years and has also been a member of Twigs, served on the Board of the VNA of Hudson Valley, and was Secretary of the Heritage Hills Condo Board. Four houses proposed at site of former Spring Hill Road animal rescue
MONROE, CT — Neighbors of the SPCA of Connecticut Animal Shelter railed against the facility at 359 Spring Hill Road when it first opened in the early 2000s, but the dog kennels were a grandfathered use. The owner, Frederick Acker, fought with town officials over the number of dogs allowed on the property over the years and, due to financial woes, the shelter closed down for good last year.
