WESTWEGO, LA — Kaylee Thomas captured five medals at the National Gymnastics Association’s Southern Regional Championship.

Gymnasts from eight states trekked to the Alario Center in Westwego, La. for the NGA Regional Championship held May 17-19.

Thomas, a fifth grader at Jones Intermediate School, competed in the Junior A Division at the Gold Level. She won her first gold medal in balance beam with a score of 9.650 out of 10. She added a silver medal in vault with a score of 9.175, then earned bronze medals in the floor competition and uneven bars with scores of 9.625 and 9.500 respectively.

Kaylee’s performance across the board earned her a gold medal in all-around competition with an overall score of 37.950. She was the only competitor in her division to medal in all four individual events.

Thomas was also honored on the NGA All-Region Team as her all-around score ranked in the top 10 of the entire session, not just in her division.

Thomas’ team, Revive Elite Gymnastics, finished seventh overall among 27 teams in its division.

The Regional Championship marked the end of Thomas’ gymnastics season as her team will not travel to California for NGA Nationals this year.
