    CCE Schuyler to host programs to teach gardening skills

    MONTOUR FALLS, N.Y. ( WETM ) – Cornell Cooperative Extension Schuyler County and the Schuyler County Master Gardeners will be offering two five-session programs to teach beginner gardening skills to those interested in learning how to grow their own food.

    The Seed to Supper program will be split into two different programs that are open to the public, one for families and another for adults.

    Schuyler County CCE to host educational events in April

    Both programs will take place at the Human Services Complex in Montour Falls.

    In order to attend either of the programs, you must pre-register beforehand. Registration will close the day before each program begins.

    The program for families will begin on Tuesday, April 16, and will go from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in room 120 of the Human Services Complex. Each session will include dinner for the families who attend. Those who are interested in attending are encouraged to register early, as there are only 20 seats available.

    The dates for the other four sessions can be found below:

    • Tuesday, April 30
    • Tuesday, May 7
    • Tuesday, May 14
    • Tuesday, May 21

    The program for adults will begin on Thursday, April 25, and will go from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. in the Silver Spoon Café. Lunch will be available before each session begins. Attendees are asked to call 607-535-7470 to make a reservation for lunch.

    The Seed to Supper program is put in place to help beginner gardeners gain the skills that they need to grow their own food on a limited budget. This program helps CCE educators and Master Garden Volunteers reach out to their communities and offer citizens strategies to add to their groceries and lower food costs.
