Elmira’s Addison Taft commits to D-1 Bucknell University softball

ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) – One of the area’s top softball talents has made her plans for the next level.

Elmira Express standout Addison “Sonny” Taft announced her college softball plans, on Tuesday. Taft will continue her college career at NCAA Division I’s Bucknell University. The standout third baseman closed out her Express career earning All-State and All-Conference selections.

Over the past 4 seasons, Taft helped Elmira to consecutive runner-up finishes in Section IV Class AA and AAA. The 3-sport athlete (soccer, basketball, softball) delivered an impressive 2024, batting .459 with 28 hits, 14 stolen bases, and a .689 slugging percentage.

Outside of the Express, Taft was also a standout for the Conklin Raiders travel softball team.

Taft will now join a Bison program on the rise. This past season, Bucknell made an impressive run to the Patriot League Tournament semifinals.
