    Two-vehicle crash slows traffic in Elmira

    ELMIRA, N.Y. ( WETM ) — One car was towed away as fire crews cleaned up transmission fluid on a busy Elmira street on Wednesday after a two-car crash happened downtown.

    According to an 18 News reporter at the scene, sometime around 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 21, two vehicles were involved in a crash at the intersection of N. Main Street and W. 1st Street.

    Police said that a blue Chevrolet was on W. 1st Street and entered North Main Street without stopping and hit a grey vehicle on the driver-side door.

    Police are describing the incident as a regular crash as no injuries were reported and the grey car was still driveable.

    The blue Chevrolet sustained significant front-end damage to where it was leaking fluid and required a tow truck while the grey car saw damage to the left side.

    The scene was cleared shortly after 1 p.m.
