HAMMONDSPORT, N.Y. ( WETM ) — If you’ve been admiring the painted palettes around Hammondsport this summer, you have a chance to take your favorite one home.

The Hammondsport Chamber of Commerce is auctioning off over-sized palettes local artists painted for Palettes of Keuka on Saturday, Aug. 31. The auction will start at 1 p.m. in Pulteney Square, but people who plan to bid on their favorite pieces should arrive early to register and get their bidder numbers and programs. Auction attendees should bring a chair or blanket to relax on during this hour-long event.

Most of the money from the auction will go to the artists who painted the palettes, and the rest will be donated to Hammondsport High School for a scholarship that supports students pursuing arts education.

Palettes of Keuka is an annual event that invites local artists to paint palettes during the winter months to be displayed during the summer. Businesses around Hammondsport host the artworks in July and August until they’re auctioned off on Labor Day Weekend. Hammondsport started this event to celebrate the beauty of Keuka Lake in 2007.

If you haven’t gotten a chance to see all of the palettes around the village and can’t make it to the auction, they’ll be on display through Aug. 30.
