ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) – Former Corning wrestling standout Jimmy Overhiser has landed his next big opportunity.

Overhiser was named an assistant coach at Drexel University in Philadelphia for the Dragons. Drexel competes in the Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association (EIWA). The move for Overhiser is the culmination of years of hard work on and off the mats.

The 2020 Cornell University grad was a member of The Big Red wrestling team before getting into the coaching ranks. For the better part of the last four years Overhiser has had multiple stops as a coach.

Overhiser served as a volunteer assistant coach at Army and then was the head coach at Tarleton State in Texas. He also had stints at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and Reinhardt. A 2015 New York State Champion at Lansing High School, Overhiser continues to shine in the sport.

Drexel wrestling opens up the 2024-25 season in November.
